Lighting Effects On Make Up

Lighting is an important way to set the mood for your wedding, as certain colours and lighting types can add warmth and drama to your venue, however it can distort the way your makeup can be perceived.

If you are thinking about using colour filters to enhance your colour theme or using specific lighting please follow my lighting, colour, makeup guidelines;

Types of Lighting and Effects on Makeup

Tungsten artificial Light - Creates Orange/Yellow cast that dulls blue tones and darkens reds.
Florescent Light - Creates a Green Cast that removes the warmth from colours.
Natural Daylight - Creates a Bluish cast.

Coloured Light Effect on Makeup

Pink - Warms most colours but makes Blues and Greens appear Grey.
Red - Red tones appear lighter, Green shades appear darker, Blue becomes darker and Greyer.
Green - Darkens Red, lightens Green, Blue appears dark Green and Purple appears darker.
Violet - Turns most shades Orange, Browns appear darker and Greens appear Grey.
Yellow - Blues and Greens appear Grey.
Peach - Warms the skin but does not change makeup colours.

Beautiful Bridal Lashes Tutorial

Eyelashes add drama and sexiness to your Bridal look, you can enhance your eyelashes by many different means - mascara, tinting, extensions or by false eyelashes.

False eyelashes are a quick, cheap method to make your eyelashes beautiful without having to visit a beauty therapist.
Before                              After

Here is a stage by stage tutorial on how to apply the perfect false lashes;

1. Choose suitable eyelashes for your wedding look, for weddings you want more natural looking eyelashes as you are going to have your wedding photos forever and you don't want to look back and look like you are going clubbing. I have used Salon System eyelashes in natural lash.

2. Use a good eyelash adhesive - I am a massive fan of the Duo eyelash glue, which is a safe latex adhesive which is most importantly waterproof so they will not budge no matter how many tears of joy you may have! Duo eyelash glue is used by most makeup artists and is recommended by MAC cosmetics.

3. Once you have found your perfect eyelashes and your suitable adhesive you need to measure up the eyelashes to your eyes and trim appropriately to fit your eye.

Measuring up
4. Apply the eyelash adhesive to the length of the eyelash strip, and leave to dry until it is tacky - approx 2 minutes.

Letting the glue dry

5. Using tweezers or eyelash applicators apply the eyelash strips to the base of the eye lid along the eyelash line. Once in the correct position, push down the lashes with your fingertips to secure them in place. I would recommend using tweezers or eyelash applicators as the less you handle the eyelashes the less oil which is transferred onto the strip which will make them less likely to stay in place.

Applying to eyelid

And Voila you will have beautiful natural bridal lashes

You can find Salon Systems eyelashes (approx £3.99) and Duo eyelash adhesive (approx £4.99) on Amazon.com.

Is a Wedding Dress Friendly Tan really out there? Sienna X 8.5% Spray Tan

I have been really excited to try the spray tan version of the Sienna X range following using their cream based tans at home for many years so this months wedding dress tan test was quite an exciting one for me.

The tan was really easy to put on, smelt only slightly but instead of the usual biscuit tan smell was surprisingly sweet smelling. The tan develops over eight hours which is quite a long time compared to the other tans which we have tested, however the wait was worth it as the colour which developed was a rich golden colour, and although the tan took a while to develop, it did not transfer onto my clothes at all which made the wait not so bad.
Before               After

The tan lasted at full coverage for five days and started to fade on day six, by day eight it was nearly gone.

This tan would be great for a wedding day due to the colour, however as it did not last the full ten days it hasn't done as well on the honeymoon test (although if you were off to a hot destination your natural tan would top it up anyway).
Day 6

You can buy Sienna X from their website where they even sell a tanning mist which is a great way to top up your tan at http://shop.sienna-x.co.uk/Retail-Products/Tan you can also find Sienna X at most beauty wholesalers. The Sienna X website also has a salon locator to find your nearest therapist who does the Sienna X spray tan.

Dry Lips Yuk!

Your Lips are one of the few areas of the body which need a lot of TLC - especially when it is cold and dry (nobody wants dry, cracked or flaky lips) especially as no lipstick or lip gloss look good on dry lips - especially matte lipsticks which accentuate your lip dryness.

Beautiful Kissable Lips
To battle dry lips drink plenty of water and use EOS lips spheres which contains lots of natural oils, also after applying the lips balm use a soft toothbrush and gently massage off the dry flakes alternatively add a pinch of sugar to your lips after applying lip balm and massage in to get rid of the flakes.

For this Festive Season and For New Year, make sure your lips are irresistible.
Happy Holidays!

How to find a lip colour to suit your skin tone

Finding a lip colour to suit your skin tone is essential for your big day so here are some tips to find the perfect colour to suit you.
All skin tones have a warmth or a coolness to them - pale skin tends to be more cool compared to olive skin, however there are anomolies where some dark skin can too be cool - warm skin tends to have yellow undertones compared to cool skin tones which have red or pink undertones.
A quick way of testing whether your skin tone is warm or cool is by seeing whether silver or gold suits your skin tones, alternatively you could use swatches of blues or purples compared to reds or oranges against your skin to see which suits best.
Once you have discovered which skin tone warmth you are finding a shade which suits these skin tones is equally important.
For warm skin tones think coral, caramel nudes, warm rose pinks and berry colours.
For cool skin tones think blue spectrum - pale pinks, beige nudes and classic reds.

As a general rule lip colour has to be a shade darker than your usual lip colour.
