To Have and to Hold

The last thing you want on your wedding day is dry, rough cracked hands, especially if you are going to be getting a beautiful bridal manicure!

I have fallen in love with this Hibiscus Flower Hand Cream by L'Occitane. This non-greasy, absorbent cream has an amazing scent which lasts for hours and only costs £8! Its a wedding day and handbag must especially during these cold winter months!

Something blue!

Barely Blueberry
Tradition states something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. A lot of women want to keep with tradition but add their own slant to it.
A fun way of doing this is use your something blue as your nail colour.
Whether that is a soft pale cornflower blue or a bold navy. Both can look really cute and if your not brave enough to wear blue on hands and feet you could just opt for a blue polish on tour toes. Or a French polish with blue tips.
Some of my personal favorites are.
1.Barely Blueberry by Jessica
OPI Ink
2.Bikini so Teeney by Essie
3. Bobbing for Baubles by Essie
4. Midnight Moonlight by Jessica

5. OPI Ink by OPI

Good Foundation

As we all have different skin types, finding a foundation which suits is essential. I have struggled for years to find the perfect foundation, as I have combination skin which is both oily and dry. A good foundation sets the base for perfect bridal makeup and also hides all imperfections leaving beautiful smooth skin. Remember if you are having a spray tan done for your big day, have a foundation to suit your tanned skin. Also avoid pinky toned foundations and opt for a more yellow based one as it will blend to your skin tone more easily.
  • Dry skin; Go for a tinted moisturiser to get best results for your skin tone as heavy liquid foundations can be drying for your skin and sticks to the worse affected areas. If you need a liquid foundation use a good moisturiser before applying your foundation.
  • Oily skin; Go for a Oil-free, water based foundation. Look out for these buzz words when purchasing a foundation to suit your oily skin. If you are prone to spots use a liquid foundation rather than a powder.
  • Mature skin; Go for a hydrating, silicone based, brightening foundation to smoothen out wrinkles and cause a plumping effect. For the best look start with a silicone base over your moisturiser will result in long lasting, crease free makeup.
  • Combination skin; Go for a liquid foundation all over your face and neck to allow a smooth base. On oily areas gently dab a powder foundation with a sponge or brush, and finish with a finishing powder.
Hope you have found this helpful

Vine Based Anti-Ageing? Caudalie Skin Care

I would like to thank Caudalie for the amazing goodie bag which we received. As Kitty swears by Environ products and has used Environ for the last ten years, I happily took the responsibility of trying out this fab new range. The goodie bag was from the Caudalie ‘Vinexpert’ range which included ‘Radiance Day Fluid’ ‘Firming Fluid’ ‘Eye and Lip Fluid’ and a ‘Gentle Buffing Cream’. I have only used the products for a couple of days but they are so easy to use and I can feel that they are working already as my skin is noticeably firmer. I am doubtful that any eye bags and wrinkle lines have gone from only a couple of days of use but I will keep you updated.
You can find these products at http://uk.caudalie.com/

Good Browsing

Thank God a strong brow is still in style!

With the popularity of Cara Delevingne growing as she walks for more designers, it doesn’t look like defined eyebrows are going anywhere, yippee. HD Brows provide an easy way to give you thicker brows without the scouse brow, as you can choose a dark, brown or lighter brown colour, which you can blend to the colour of your own natural brows.
HD Brows is also a powder rather than a pencil which gives a less harsh look, but will still strengthen your face to show off your beauty, as Bobbi Brown is famed to say
Well-groomed brows instantly give you a more a polished look’ which is what you want from your wedding day make-up.

Applying the lash...

Sephora Bull's Eyelash Applicator
Following the recent blog on whether to use false eyelashes or eyelash extensions, I have found a fab product which helps you to apply your falsies, especially if you find applying them difficult to do yourself or scared of other peoples fingers near your eyes. This product will allow you to easily pop them on for your special day! You can order this from Sephora where they are $12 so approx £7.50, alternatively I have found in the Wholesalers Sallys by Ardell a cheaper alternative for £4

Would you dare to wear a bright lip?

Reds, Pinks, Oranges all bright and matte. These bold colours have been seen at the Emmys, London Fashion week and now Paris Fashion week!

The trend has followed through A/W 12 and looks to carry on to S/S 13 – Moschino, John Richmond, Missoni, Vivienne Westwood and Giles all favoured a bright lip for their S/S13 show at Paris Fashion week.
Use this trend as a focal point for your bridal look – this is a great way to dress up your evening look with a flash of bright colour, make your bridal look vintage with a bold red or could be a cute way to tie your bridesmaids look together. Here are some celebrities daring to wear a bright lip.
Would you dare on your wedding day?

You may Kiss the Bride....

Blistex Moisture Max
What would you do when the special moment comes, you have just become a wife and it is time to kiss your brand new husband and you have chapped lips?! As it is becoming colder and chapped lips are going to creep up on most of us we need to find a way of combating the crackles! I have found two fantastic products for gaining soft and beautiful, kissable lips which remove the horrible flakes. The First is ‘Blistex Moisture Max’ which is moistening and has exfoliating beads, you can find this from Boots or Superdrug. The second which is now quite hard to track down as Sephora no longer stocks it, is ‘Korres Lemon Lip Scrub’, however it is still available on Amazon Helen xoxo

False Eyelashes or Eyelash extensions?

Depending on the look which you want for your big day, your eyelashes can have a massive impact on what you want to achieve especially if you want larger lashes which you cannot get from your natural ones and mascara. For a thick dramatic look which is easy to do yourself, false eyelashes are the best, I recommend ‘Eylure Girls Aloud Kiberley Lashes’ (roughly £5 from Boots or Superdrug) as they are thick and flirty however they are not too thick to take the focus off the bride and I know from my own experiences, eyelashes which are too thick can ruin photographs.
Another way to gain beautiful lashes is eyelash extensions, where longer single eyelashes are added to each one of your own eyelashes. Eyelash extensions a more natural look whilst thickening and elongating your lashes. Although this is more expensive, approx £60-£70 and does take about 2 hours for a full set, they do last up to 3weeks and you can get infills for a lower price, approx £15. Here is a pic of Kitty with a full set of eyelash extensions, so pretty

Pearly Whites?

A recent poll has shown that people who have whiter teeth are often perceived as younger than those who haven’t. And as your wedding day is going to be one of the happiest days of your life, having a perfect smile is important – especially to ensure great photos.
Here are some hints to having a great smile :)
  • Visit your hygienist for a scale and polish
  • Get your teeth professionally whitened – you can get some great offers on GroupOn and similar voucher code companies for between £40-£50
  • Use a good whitening toothpaste such as ‘Arm and Hammer Whitening’ and ‘Theramed Perfect’
  • Avoid staining foods such as Red Wine, Coffee, Red Meats, Sauces, Tea, Sports Drinks, Berries and sweets.
  • Use Paula’s choice Brightening Up stick for a quick fix of whitening http://www.paulaschoice.com/product/brighten-up-two-minute-teeth-whitener/body-hair-care
  • Wear Pink or Red coloured lipstick – this enhances the whiteness of your teeth.
Hope this helps to gaining a beautiful smile on your big day!

Welcome to our blog!

We are a Bridal Make-Up and Beauty Blog called Love, Honour and Be True.
We are sisters called Kitty and Helen, we love all things to do with make up and weddings.
Kitty works in the Beauty Industry, owning two successful salons, and has nearly twelve years of beauty and professional makeup experience.
Helen is the younger of the two, and instead of following her sisters footsteps in beauty, went to University to study Events Management (due to her love of weddings and parties), but being Kitty's guinea-pig from a young age is equally as enthusiastic and passionate about new trends and products.
