Looking after number one – Your skin

In the run up to your big day, you need to start thinking about number one – you! At the end of the day this means your skin. Here are some important steps to follow to gain that natural glowing bridal look.

With the changeable weather us Brits have, we need to make sure that on those sunny days, even if it is a little cloudy to wear an SPF – whether this is in your foundation or just a light amount of sunscreen before you leave the house (imagine being sun burnt or peeling in your wedding photos!).
Also if the weather is cool remember to moisturise – ensuring your face, knees and elbows are especially looked after so that if you are tanning the tan does not stick to your dry patches.

If you are working out in order to lose those last couple of pounds from your hen do and pre-wedding celebrations – remember to take all of your makeup off before you work out! Nobody cares what you look like at the gym or at your classes.
If you wear makeup when you are working out, your body will try to expel heat and toxins, which will clog in your pores, making your skin hold all those baddies you need to get rid of.

Choose a good skin care regime. Start early – not a week before and find a product which suits you. Stay away from anything which includes alcohol (ethanol) or ‘aromatherapy oils’- these are not natural for your skin.
The skin care brand which we would recommend is Environ, especially their AVST range which formulated exclusively for the International Market. These moisturisers contain vitamin A and antioxidants including vitamins E, vitamin C, Green Tea Extract, Honey bush and Rooibos Tea Extracts, Resveratrol and Beta-Carotene – basically lots of skin goodies! We have recommended this range to friends and family who have mentioned noticeable improvements and compliments.

Good Foundation

As we all have different skin types, finding a foundation which suits is essential. I have struggled for years to find the perfect foundation, as I have combination skin which is both oily and dry. A good foundation sets the base for perfect bridal makeup and also hides all imperfections leaving beautiful smooth skin. Remember if you are having a spray tan done for your big day, have a foundation to suit your tanned skin. Also avoid pinky toned foundations and opt for a more yellow based one as it will blend to your skin tone more easily.
  • Dry skin; Go for a tinted moisturiser to get best results for your skin tone as heavy liquid foundations can be drying for your skin and sticks to the worse affected areas. If you need a liquid foundation use a good moisturiser before applying your foundation.
  • Oily skin; Go for a Oil-free, water based foundation. Look out for these buzz words when purchasing a foundation to suit your oily skin. If you are prone to spots use a liquid foundation rather than a powder.
  • Mature skin; Go for a hydrating, silicone based, brightening foundation to smoothen out wrinkles and cause a plumping effect. For the best look start with a silicone base over your moisturiser will result in long lasting, crease free makeup.
  • Combination skin; Go for a liquid foundation all over your face and neck to allow a smooth base. On oily areas gently dab a powder foundation with a sponge or brush, and finish with a finishing powder.
Hope you have found this helpful

Vine Based Anti-Ageing? Caudalie Skin Care

I would like to thank Caudalie for the amazing goodie bag which we received. As Kitty swears by Environ products and has used Environ for the last ten years, I happily took the responsibility of trying out this fab new range. The goodie bag was from the Caudalie ‘Vinexpert’ range which included ‘Radiance Day Fluid’ ‘Firming Fluid’ ‘Eye and Lip Fluid’ and a ‘Gentle Buffing Cream’. I have only used the products for a couple of days but they are so easy to use and I can feel that they are working already as my skin is noticeably firmer. I am doubtful that any eye bags and wrinkle lines have gone from only a couple of days of use but I will keep you updated.
You can find these products at http://uk.caudalie.com/
